Day 3 on the boat: haircut!
I have head hair in places where there should only be body hair.
TLDR: I did boat yoga (boga?), got an undercut, and petted a very cute dog.
I have short hair, only just above shoulder-length. I however have a lot of it. A lot of hair isn't fun when it's hot. To reduce the amount of hair on my head, today I went and got myself an undercut. For those unfamiliar with the term, and undercut is essentially getting the bottom third of your head shaved. I had an undercut awhile back, about four years ago. I went to a nice, proper hair salon in the middle of town. The lady didn't know what an undercut was, unfortunately I hadn't thought to bring pictures, and I ended up with what looked like bangs on the back of my head. This time, I went to a barber. I am happier with these results.
I didn't do yoga yesterday. This morning, I decided to do some. The catamaran trampoline makes for a fun, slightly wobbly yoga surface, and it nicely trains your balance. The view was of boats and water, and it doesn't get much better than that. There was a nice breeze, but it was atrociously sunny, and I was awash in sweat in approximately ten minutes. I see why I did not do yoga yesterday.
I tried the dinghy out! The dinghy is a small tiller-driven zodiac called Hell's Gate (to complement Heaven's Door). As a rule, I find that tiller motorboats are objectively inferior to ones with steering wheels, but Hell's Gate was quite small and peppy, so I forgive this one for now. Jem and I motored around the marina and went to a nearby town which is accessible by water and surrounded by hills, so it was a very nice view. I later took the dinghy out to get my haircut, and successfully got it to plane. (Planing is when if you go fast enough the hull rises out of the water then lowers again but stays out of the water, which reduces drag and leads to an increase in speed and fuel efficiency.) Jem was relatively unimpressed with my newfound planing skill as it is quite basic, but I believe in celebrating baby steps, especially if you haven't done any big ones.
The catamaran to our right left this afternoon. They had two beautiful dogs, one that likes to swim and one that liked to be petted. I don't know the name of canine Michael Phelps, but sir likes-the-pats is called Bob. I will miss Bob.
I found a beanbag on the boat. It's vaguely banana-shaped and is amazingly comfortable. Jem says it's great for night watches. The beanbag is my new favourite part of the boat. The others are the kitchen (I toasted bread in the oven! They have an oven in the boat! And a wok! And a special wok burner!) and the roof over the kitchen and lounge because it's the highest part of the deck. I wrote yesterday's blog post on that. Next time, I will write there, but with the beanbag. Until then, peace ✌️
Sounds wonderful !! Glad things are working out. What an adventure!
